Don Kaplan

 

Don Kaplan serves as Deputy Inspector General for Communications and Public Affairs.

Prior to joining the Office of the MTA Inspector General, Mr. Kaplan served in the New York State Executive Chamber as the Deputy Communications Director for Public Safety. The role included overseeing all crisis communications, media relations, and messaging strategies for the New York State Police, the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, the Division of Criminal Justice Services, the Division of Military and Naval Affairs, the Division of Veteran Services and New York State’s technology and cyber security interests. He also managed press and media strategies for SUNY and the State’s Higher Education Services Corporation. Prior to state service, Don spent 20 years front and center in New York City’s tabloid wars as a senior reporter, columnist and editor at both the New York Post and the New York Daily News.


Mr. Kaplan received his BA from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
