Elizabeth Keating

Elizabeth Keating is the Executive Deputy Inspector General for Audit.

Ms. Keating has worked at the Office of the MTA Inspector General for over 2 decades serving MTA riders and taxpayers in a variety of roles. Since 2007, as the head of the Audit Unit, she has overseen hundreds of reviews on program performance and efficiency resulting in numerous recommendations to the MTA to improve operations and accountability.


Ms. Keating’s deep background in public infrastructure began as an aide to Chicago’s wastewater and flood control commissioner, reviewing the agency’s $400 million budget. She then served as the director of a nonprofit focused on government efficiency in Spokane, Washington. She went on to spend 9 years with a bipartisan committee of the Washington State Legislature auditing a wide-range of state policies and programs, including the effectiveness of job creation programs, school refinancing models, and efficiency of correctional institutions. Additionally, Ms. Keating taught for 6 years as an Adjunct Professor, in the Masters in Public Administration program at Saint Peter's University.


Ms. Keating received her MA in Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Affairs, University of Washington, and her BA from Boston College.
